Questions
Do I need to study operations research to join?
No. Anyone at Northeastern can join, in any program or year.
Does it cost anything?
No. Chapter membership is free, and you don't need to be an INFORMS member to join. Board officers do need an INFORMS student membership.
How do I join?
Fill in the membership form. You'll get event announcements and invitations.
Can I help run the chapter?
Yes. Some board roles are still open; they're listed under the board on the home page. Write to informsnu@gmail.com.
Where do I hear about events?
On the home page, on our Luma calendar, and on the chapter's LinkedIn and Instagram.
Bylaws
The 2026-27 board is writing these, based on the INFORMS template for student chapters. The full text goes here once members adopt it and INFORMS approves it. For now, the main points:
- Membership
- Open to every Northeastern student with an interest in operations research, the management sciences or analytics. INFORMS membership is not required to join.
- Officers
- A board of elected officers, each a member of INFORMS, serving one-year terms.
- Elections
- Open nominations and an electronic ballot of the membership, decided by majority vote.
- Meetings
- General meetings open to all members, announced in advance.
- Conduct
- Everyone taking part in chapter activities agrees to the INFORMS Code of Conduct.
