INFORMS is the main professional society for operations research and analytics. We're its student chapter at Northeastern, started in 2015.
Operations research is the math behind decisions like hospital staffing, delivery routes and airline schedules. You don't need to study it to join. We invite people who use it to talk about their work, teach practical skills, and give students across programs a reason to meet.
Joining is free, and you don't need to be an INFORMS member.
Once a month, a faculty member, an alum or someone working in Boston talks about how they use optimization, simulation or analytics on real problems. Questions and discussion afterwards.

The chapter won an INFORMS Student Chapter Annual Award every year from 2017 to 2023.
In 2017, Rozhin Doroudi received the Judith Liebman Award for student volunteer leadership.
INFORMS looks at four things: communications, special events and initiatives, community service, and how the chapter is run. Coming to events, giving a talk or volunteering all count.
